Plus size swimsuits are looking a whole lot better. After thousands of requests since its launch three years ago, trend-driven plus-size retailer Eloquii is giving its customers what they want: a swimwear line that boasts the same considered design and quality as all of its other offerings. And did Eloquii deliver. The 43-piece collection, which includes one-pieces, bikinis, and cover-ups in sizes 12 to 28, is refreshingly current with of-the-moment finishes set against flattering silhouettes.

“As with everything we do, we listen to our customers and what they are asking for,” Jodi Arnold, vice president of design and creative director of Eloquii, tells Glamour. “Swim has been at the top of the list of our most searched terms on a weekly basis since we launched three years ago. We wanted to make sure we did it right when we finally launched, so it took a few years, but we are really happy with the product.”

To bring the line to reality, Eloquii partnered with a terrific swim manufacturer to construct pieces that would promise uncompromising fit and features, like powernet-lined busts to support cup sizes D to F, 50+ UPF protection, quality heavy-weight tricot fabric to ensure smoothness, along with side boning and underwire for additional support. And of course, once the base was perfected, key design elements could come into play, like color-blocked graphics, playful prints, off-the-shoulder ruffle tops, sexy central cut-outs, and retro chic high-waist bottoms.

“We didn’t really want to have any ‘rules’ around plus-size swim—whatever is happening in swim we can show the customer how that trend will work for her,” Arnold explains. “The issue for plus-size women has been finding a cute swimsuit that is not ‘skirted’ or trying to hide something or looks like it was made for her grandmother.”

These pre-conceived ideas of what plus size swimsuits should look like are exactly what Arnold set out to break—and achieve. The campaign, too, is worth noting. After too many years of brands excessively photoshopping their models and advertising unrealistic portrayals of “swimwear bodies,” Eloquii made sure to announce the launch of swimwear with a refreshingly accurate representation of real-women sizes without any airbrushing.
