Pittsburgh coordinator Todd Haley reportedly injured in scuffle outside bar

What’s the old adage – nothing good happens after midnight?

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley and his wife, Christine, were involved in some sort of altercation while enjoying New Year’s Eve at a bar near Heinz Field.

The story began with the Steelers confirming that Haley had been injured in a fall; he was not at work on Tuesday.

But of course, it’s not that simple.

Pittsburgh Police have released a statement saying that “detail officers were summoned to Tequila Cowboy restaurant for a minor scuffle involving Haley’s wife shortly after midnight, January 1, [2018]. The scuffle was quickly ended. Todd Haley was not involved nor injured. Todd and Christine Haley were escorted out.

“No injuries. No charges.”

However, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Todd Haley was hurt outside the bar, not inside. Rapoport tweeted that Haley was shoved to the ground, resulting in the hip injury.

The Steelers say Haley will rejoin the team this week, as it prepares for its first playoff game, on Jan. 14, when they host either Jacksonville, Kansas City or Tennessee.

If anyone can vouch for the whereabouts of Ben Roethlisberger at the time of Haley’s injury – the two have a at-times a turbulent relationship – that would be good for the quarterback.
