Pittsburgh Airport Is Auctioning Off Items From Its Lost and Found — Including Scuba Gear and a 2015 Dodge Ram

If you lost something at Pittsburgh International Airport, this may be your last chance to get it back.

According to local Pittsburgh CBS station KDKA, The Allegheny County Airport Authority, which manages the airport, will be auctioning off thousands of abandoned vehicles and unclaimed items on Saturday, Oct. 19.

The airport authority has been holding this public auction for several years.

In addition to 15 abandoned vehicles that will go up for bidding, including a 2015 Dodge Ram and 2002 Chrysler Town & Country, there will be more than 10,000 items taken from the Pittsburgh International Airport’s Lost and Found.

According to KDKA, anything unclaimed for at least 30 days by its owner is up for sale, including 1,000 pieces of jewelry, 500 electronics, and an assortment of other goods. Not all items for sale come from the airport’s Lost and Found.

Among the more quirky items on the auction block include a Keurig, scuba gear, and a Kurt Cobain record, according to KDKA. There are also a handful of electronics, mostly HP desktops, monitors, laptops, and printers. A list of some of the items going up can be found online. Blue Sky Pittsburgh also reported that there will be a five-pound, 2,500-page English-Vietnamese dictionary available as well, just in case anyone is interested in learning Vietnamese.

But not everything you lose at the airport’s Lost and Found ends up in an auction for hundreds of strangers to rummage through. Pittsburgh International Airport spokesperson Bob Kerlik told Fox News in 2017, “Anything that was lost and found, the money that we get for that, we donate that to charity.” And according to KDKA, this policy remains the same today.

According to Blue Sky Pittsburgh, the auction will take place at the Heavy Equipment Building on Cargo Road at the Pittsburgh International Airport. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and the auction will begin at 10 a.m. The auction will be run by Joe R. Pyle Complete Auction & Realty Service. You can also bid online at the Joe R.
