While Minnesota Vikings fans are hoping purple will be the dominant color of Super Bowl LII, the game will start with some Pink.
Pink (or P!NK, as she refers to herself) will sing the national anthem at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis for Super Bowl LII. Pink has been making hits since the early 2000s, and is a great choice to sing the anthem. Not that she isn’t already famous enough, but it’s never a bad thing to sing for more than 100 million people watching on television.
Pink, with her trademark strong voice, has plenty of hits that you’ve undoubtedly heard through the years. Among her biggest hits are “Raise Your Glass,” “What About Us” and “Just Give Me a Reason.”
While the halftime performer has been the biggest gig related to the Super Bowl (this year it’s Justin Timberlake), the anthem has also become a big deal and the NFL finds a star to do it. Whitney Houston had the most famous Super Bowl anthem, at Super Bowl XXV during the Gulf War, and that’s unlikely to ever be topped. It’s arguably the most memorable singing of the national anthem ever. Since then the NFL has booked some huge names to sing the anthem, such as Mariah Carey (no word on if she had hot tea), Faith Hill, Beyonce and Billy Joel.
Lady Gaga did the Super Bowl 50 anthem, then was the halftime performer a year later. It wouldn’t be too surprising if Pink/P!NK took a similar path.
