Pierce Brosnan pays tribute to Sean Connery on his 90th birthday: 'You were my Bond of inspiration'

Former ‘James Bond’ star and living legend Sean Connery turned an impressive 90 years old on August 25.

The Academy Award Winner, who received the Best Supporting Actor honor for his role in 1988’s ‘The Untouchables’, retired in 2003 but is still lighting up movie screens thanks to his impressive catalog of hit roles.

Perhaps the most iconic of these roles is playing the original James Bond in seven of the franchise’s films, including ‘Dr. No’ and ‘Goldfinger’.

Fans and co-stars poured in across social media with well-wishes for Connery’s big milestone, including Pierce Brosnan, who took over the role of 007 in 1995 in GoldenEye.

Brosnan posted a touching tribute to the actor on Instagram, recalling a memory of seeing Connery on the big screen and the impact it had on his career.

“I was eleven years old in 1964, just off the plane from Ireland when I saw 'Goldfinger' at the ABC cinema on Putney high street,” Brosnan penned.

“You were my Bond of inspiration."
