The new picture of baby Archie on Harry and Meghan’s New Year’s Eve message is so cute we’re squealing

We thought Archie Mountbatten-Windsor could not get cuter than his scene-stealing appearance in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Christmas card this year. We’re not too proud to admit that we were wrong. Yesterday, December 31st, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex posted an Instagram video that looks back on their 2019 highlights. The first image features Archie—whose birth was undoubtedly the Duke and Duchess’s biggest 2019 highlight, and, honestly, one of ours, too—bundled up in a pom-pom hat, fuzzy leggings, a very chic camel-colored hooded coat, and little tiny Ugg boots. (Oh, Prince Harry is in the picture, too.)

“Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and thanking you for your continued support!” the royal couple captioned the video. “We’ve loved meeting so many of you from around the world and can’t wait to meet many more of you next year. We hope 2020 brings each of you health and continued happiness.”

The minute-long video also features images and video clips from Archie’s christening, the Invictus Games, the couple’s royal tour through South Africa, Markle hugging Beyoncé, and Prince Harry kind of twinning with Ed Sheeran, among other highlights from their many trips, visits, and charity work last year.

But we still can’t get over the brand-new pic of Archie and Harry cuddling, which was probably snapped over the couple’s holiday in Canada.

The stunning sea-and-mountain vista backdrop certainly looks worthy of a $14.1 million waterfront mansion on Vancouver Island, where the royal family and Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, spent their Christmas break.

The couple’s decision to spend Christmas in Canada this year drew some controversy, as it bucks the royal family’s long-standing tradition of gathering at Sandringham Estate for the holiday. Considering that Markle has been the target of extreme bullying by the British press this year, we think their getaway to Canada is pretty well-deserved. (Not to mention the fact that, despite being royals, Markle and Prince Harry are actual humans with the agency to choose how they spend time as a family.)

And anyway, their trip produced our new favorite picture of baby Archie, which we’ll be tacking up on our 2020 mood board as soon as we find an actual, working printer.
