Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag Is Coming to Theaters Very Soon

Were you one of the viewers captivated by Phoebe Waller-Bridge's badly behaved, sexually misadventurous character Fleabag? You might know that the eponymous dark comedy originated from Waller-Bridge's 2013 play of the same name; she brought it back to stages in New York City and London earlier this year, but even devoted fans missed out on tickets after the runs sold out.

Soon, though, the one-woman show will be available to view on the big screen, thanks to the UK's National Theatre Live. Waller-Bridge, who wrote and performed the play, is about to begin a new Fleabag stint at London's Wyndham Theatre. And while the two-week run is close to sold out, on September 12 viewers will have yet another opportunity to finally catch it; that performance will be broadcast live to audiences internationally. To find the screening nearest to you, visit the National Theatre Live website.

Like the TV show so many have seen and appreciated, the stage version of Fleabag follows the inner narrative of a woman we know only as "Fleabag." Her quirky profession (she owns a guinea-pig themed café), scampish sexual exploits, and dry wit belie the darker side of her life—which is gradually revealed as we learn more about her past.

The highly acclaimed TV series ran to two six-episode seasons, both now available in the US on Amazon Prime. The second season earned four Emmy nominations: for Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actress (for Waller-Bridge), and Supporting Actress (both Olivia Colman, who plays Fleabag's stepmother, and Sian Clifford, who plays Fleabag's sister, Claire).
