Peter “FOUR Times in a Windmill” Weber may have one thing in the way of his hopes of being America’s next Bachelor. Back in June, rumors started floating around that Jed might not be the only one of Hannah’s top guys who entered the show with a GF. Reality Steve even spoke to the spurned lover in question, who didn’t seem to want to go public...at first.
Pete: auditioned for this show while simultaneously dating one of my best friends. And begging her to move in with him 😱‼️ pic.twitter.com/lR9ZvJ7AI1— 𝕁𝕖𝕤𝕤 (@j_may13) June 25, 2019
She obviously had a change of heart, because right before the Fantasy Suite episode to end all Fantasy Suite episodes, model Calee Lutes broke her silence.
Calee told Entertainment Tonight that she and Peter met on a dating app in June 2018 and dated for about five months, flying back and forth to see each other almost every week. Their relationship was apparently serious enough that they met each other’s families and were talking about moving in together...until he broke up with her over FaceTime. Ouch.
“He said that we should end our relationship before it got even more serious,” Calee told ET. “He interviewed for a reality dating show while simultaneously planning a future with me. I trusted him entirely and he pulled the rug out from under me.”
Well, Pete’s finally able to respond now that he’s no longer in the running for Hannah’s heart. Turns out, she’s...kinda right?
“There was a lot of truth to what she said in her story, but there is also a lot of truth that wasn’t mentioned,” Pilot Pete tells People. “The show had absolutely nothing to do with me ending that relationship.”
In fact, Peter says his casting and first interview didn’t happen until months after the two broke up. “I was very serious in trying to progress that relationship and move it forward,” he says. “And she wasn’t on the same page as me. That being said, I wasn’t going to waste her time or my time."
But here’s where the famous Pilot Pete charm comes in. Even though he claims the breakup happened waaay before his plans to join The Bachelorette, he still feels bad for hurting Calee. “It’s obvious that I hurt someone that I really did care about,” he says. “That was never my intention. And for that I’m sorry. Breakups suck!”
Yes, Pilot Pete. This we can all agree on.
