Who Is Peter Weber? Everything to Know About The New ‘Bachelor’

Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor is about to take flight. The 24th season of ABC’s reality dating show will premiere January 6, 2020, with a brand new lead. Ahead of the pilot-turned-reality personality’s highly-anticipated debut, get to know the man who will be handing out roses.

The 28-year-old, also known as “Peter the Pilot,” first appeared on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette in 2019. He advanced to the final three (and made headlines for his passionate night with Brown in a windmill) before he was dumped and sent home in Crete, Greece. Weeks later, it was announced that Weber would take the role of The Bachelor for the upcoming season. With the premiere date fast approaching, keep reading to get to know Bachelor Peter Weber.

He Grew Up Near the ‘Bachelor’ Mansion

Peter Weber grew up in Westlake Village, California. The Los Angeles County city is just minutes away from where the Bachelor Mansion is nestled in Agoura, California. While he studied at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, for a year, he later moved back home to follow his dream of becoming a pilot.

Weber’s parents have known each other for over 30 years, and he’s close with his younger brother, Jack (also a pilot). Their tight-knit bond was evident when the family met Hannah Brown during Weber’s hometown date on The Bachelorette, particularly when the pilot told them he was falling in love with her.

His Job is Tied to His Parent’s Love Story

Both of Weber’s parents work in the airline industry. His father, a pilot, and his mother, a flight attendant, met while working on the same flight—and their shared love of flying stayed in the family. After his freshman year at Baylor, Weber relocated to California to pursue piloting. In 2015, he became a commercial pilot for Compass Airlines. After three years, he transferred to Delta Airlines, where he currently works.

‘The Bachelorette’ Wasn’t His First Time on TV

Weber became a fast fan-favorite on The Bachelorette when he gave Brown a pair of her set of pilot wings on the first night of the season—but it wasn’t his first time on television. According to the pilot’s IMDb page, he made an appearance on Days of Our Lives in 2003 as “Young Roman Brady.”

He’s Still Close with ‘The Bachelorette’ Cast

Since the finale of The Bachelorette, Weber seemingly remains close with his cast members. A recent Instagram post shows Weber dancing with fellow Bachelorette finalist Tyler Cameron and contestant Dustin Hendricks at a football game. He’s also received an outpouring of public support from Bachelor Nation friends after being named The Bachelor. In an Instagram post teasing the season, fellow Bachelorette cast member Mike Johnson (who was also in the running for the Bachelor role) wrote, “Can’t wait homie.”

Weber’s unexpected Bachelorette elimination came as a surprise to viewers. The exes remained on good terms though, with Brown even predicting Weber might be named the series lead. But in a shocking preview of the upcoming season, the former Bachelorette returns to the mansion to reconnect with Weber. It’s unclear what her role will be on the show, but one thing is certain: turbulence is expected.

Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor premieres on January 6 on ABC at 8/7c.
