Pete Davidson Speaks Out About His Breakup With Ariana Grande

"Does anybody have any open rooms? Looking for a roommate?" The comedian joked during a set at a comedy show on Saturday night.

Just a week after Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson reportedly called off their engagement earlier this month, Davidson commented on the breakup for the very first time. The comedian and Saturday Night Live cast member co-hosted the Judd & Pete for America comedy show on Saturday night, where he opened the night with a zinger about the much-publicized breakup, E News reports. “Well, as you could tell, I don't want to be here. There's a lot going on,” Davidson reportedly told the crowd. “Does anybody have any open rooms? Looking for a roommate?” (Davidson is, of course, referring to the fact that he'll no longer be inhabiting the $16 million New York City apartment that he shared with Grande during their relationship.)

Meanwhile, Grande has been keeping a low profile since the split, and has yet to publicly comment on their cancelled nuptials. The singer took a brief social media hiatus earlier this month, but did emerge to perform in A Very Wicked Halloween, a TV special airing on October 29 that also stars the original Wicked stars Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth.

Davidson and Grande first met on SNL in May, and a whirlwind romance was born: the couple got engaged after a few weeks of dating, immediately moved in together, and even adopted a pet pig together, called Piggy Smallz. They also went the extra mile and got matching tattoos, though Davidson has since gotten some of them covered up. During his Judd & Pete for America appearance, Davidson joked, “I’ve been covering a bunch of tattoos, that’s fun. I’m fucking 0-for-2 in the tattoo department. Yeah, I’m afraid to get my mom tattooed on me because she’d leave.”

This isn’t the first time that Davidson has joked about his relationship, either. On an earlier SNL “Weekend Update” skit in September, Davidson made fun of their unexpected pairing, saying, “Yeah, I did, I got engaged, and no one could believe it. And I can’t believe it, and I get it. She’s the number one pop star in the world and I’m that guy from SNL that everyone thinks is in desperate need of more blood.”
