Pete Davidson, man of the people, hands out pizza at writers strike

This weekend Pete Davidson was set to return to Saturday Night Live, this time as the host. However, Saturday’s episode with Pete at the helm was cancelled after production of the sketch comedy show was shut down because of the current Writers Guild of America strikes.

The strike, which kicked off on Tuesday because of pay issues, has impacted many shows, with late-night chat shows and now SNL being hit immediately.

However, Pete is 100% behind the writers, as was seen in a viral video clip on Friday (5th May).

In the video, which was shared to social media, Pete is seen handing out pizzas to those on the picket line in the Greenpoint neighbourhood of Brooklyn in New York.

“I got Spumoni's for everyone," Pete is heard saying.

When asked why he had come out, he replied, “gotta support the writers, man! No shows without the writers."

At one point Pete was also seen picking up a placard and joining a demonstration outside NYC’s Silvercup Studios.

Pete wasn’t the only celebrity host to have his SNL episode cancelled because of the strike. Succession actor Kieran Culkin, who was to be joined by special musical guest Labrinth, as well as The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge, alongside Foo Fighters, now won't appear on this season of the show.

Like Pete, other celebrities have voiced their support for the the picketing writers.

Drew Barrymore, Abbott Elementary creator and star Quinta Brunson, late-night talk show hosts Seth Myers and Jimmy Fallon, as well as Elizabeth Olsen, Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein and Rob Lowe have all vocally supported those striking.
