Pete Davidson jokes about Kanye West in final SNL speech

Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian have been linked since October 2021, and the comedian finally addressed her ex-husband Kanye West in his final Saturday Night Live speech.

Fans of The Kardashians will know Kim and Pete getting together was slightly unexpected. This was in part due to the fact that Kanye was not only present at SNL to support his ex-wife (they announced their divorce the previous January) when she met Pete, but Kanye and Pete had also been known to hang out as friends prior.

But that didn't stop Pete and Kim from getting to know each other, eventually being spotted out arm in arm and going Instagram official. Now, almost eight months later, Pete has announced he's leaving Saturday Night Live after eight years, referencing his girlfriend's ex-husband in his leaving speech - as well as his engagement to Ariana Grande.

"Hello Colin [Jost] and [Michael] Che and millions of people only watching to see if I bring up Kanye,” Davidson said during the show’s Weekend Update segment. "I never imagined this would be my life.

"Look at me when I started here. Back then, I was just a skinny kid and no one knew what race I was. Now everyone knows I’m white because I became hugely successful while barely showing up to work."

Later in the show, Pete thanked showrunner Lorne Michaels for 'always gi[ving] the best advice', adding, "I’ll never forget this. I called him when I got engaged, I said, ‘Lorne, I just got engaged to Ariana Grande after dating for two weeks’ and he said, ‘Oh, hold on for dear life!' That's a true thing he said!"

In one final goodbye to the show, the 28-year-old added, "I appreciate SNL always having my back and allowing me to work on myself and grow and thank you to Lorne for never giving up on me or judging me, even when everyone else was and believing me and allowing me to have a place to call home with memories that will last a lifetime."
