From Good Housekeeping

Approximately 68,244 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken nugget products have been recalled by Perdue due to potential wood contamination, the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced on Thursday. Three consumers reported finding wood in their nuggets, with a fourth complaint reported via the FSIS’ consumer complaint monitoring system.

The USDA has classified the recall as a Class I, meaning it is a health hazard with a reasonable probability the use of the product will cause serious health consequences or death. However, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products thus far.

Nearly 50,000 of the recalled frozen, 22-ounce bags of Perdue SimplySmart Organics Gluten-Free Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets were produced on October 25, 2018 and shipped to retail locations nationwide - so if you've purchased any in the last few months, you'll want to check your freezer.

The potentially contaminated bags will have a best by date of October, 25, 2019 and and a UPC Bar Code reading "72745-80656" on the back label. The front of the bag has a plant code of P-33944 in the bottom right corner.

If you have any in your freezer, do not eat them - throw them away or return them to where you bought them.
