Vilailuck Teigen, affectionately known as Pepper Thai because of her love for spicy foods, is following in her daughter Chrissy's footsteps and releasing her own cookbook next week. The Pepper Thai Cookbook will include Pepper's favorite recipes that she has made for her family throughout the years and personal anecdotes behind the dishes.
In a profile with the Wall Street Journal Magazine, Pepper talked about the upcoming project and said that the cookbook is something she wants to pass down to her grandchildren Luna and Miles. She also dedicated the book to her late grandson Jack as a way to honor him.
Chrissy revealed in September that she experienced pregnancy loss due to complications including partial placenta abruption. In the caption of a September series of photos on Instagram, Chrissy revealed that she and John had already named their son Jack. Pepper chose to memorialize her late grandson Jack by dedicating the cookbook to him and told WSJ that the family is continuing to heal and grieve.
"We talk about him every day. Luna talks about him every day, and that's how we grieve," she said: "We're getting better each day...We're getting so much better, and Chrissy too."
Chrissy wrote the foreword for the upcoming cookbook and talked about how her mother never cooked American food until she moved to the United States. When she was growing up, Chrissy remembers her mom making American food for the family and a separate Thai meal for herself with whatever ingredients she could find at the grocery store.
The recipes in the cookbook will follow that same theme and will blend Thai traditions with the American palate. You can learn more about the cookbook and preorder a copy online here.
