Just two days after it was reported that Good Morning America co-anchor Lara Spencer would be cutting back on her airtime, the rumors are starting to brew.

Even though the original People report pointed to her HGTV show Flea Market Flip and other projects as the reason for her reduced schedule, Page Six now hints that there's more to the story. Citing "industry sources," the new report claims that Lara's team intentionally leaked the story to People to prove that she had decided to "cut back" when really GMA is quietly sidelining her as they battle it out for the morning show top spot with NBC competitor TODAY.

“Lara’s good at her job,” said the insider, “but it’s not like the [ratings] are affected when she’s not on [the show].”

What's more is that the article also claims GMA staffers were "relieved" after learning Lara's schedule had been slashed.

GMA quickly shut down the insider's take while defending Lara and highlighting her vital role on the show.

“This is ridiculous," the GMA rep said in a response to Page Six. "She is the ultimate team player. Lara decided to cut back her hours on GMA to focus on her production company.”

Despite all the rumors and alleged drama, the general reaction seems to be that people will really miss Lara and look forward to watching her elsewhere.
