People Think Prince Charles Gave Mike Pence the Cold Shoulder

Diplomacy doesn't always look diplomatic. Footage of what appears to be Prince Charles brushing off Vice President Mike Pence spread all over Twitter and it has some people assuming that the prince gave Pence the cold shoulder. It all went down at an event in Israel and appears to show Charles making his way down a receiving line. He shakes hands with most of the people, but he opts to skip on any interaction with Pence and move on to Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Twitter users posted the video and their reactions range from hand-clap emoji to resounding support. Most of the tweets re-post footage originally uploaded by Holocaust nonprofit Yad Vashem’s live feed, but according to Snopes, everyone needs to relax just a bit. Audio from the event, which got cut from many posts, actually shows that Prince Charles acknowledged Pence verbally, saying, "Mr. Pence," though there's no denying that he didn't shake his hand.

Pence’s press secretary, Katie Waldman, clarified the issue with her a tweet of her own. She pointed out that the Pences and Prince Charles had met before the event, writing, "This is not true. VP and Prince Charles spoke prior to entering the event floor and after his remarks as well."
