People Think Kim Kardashian West Photoshopped Baby Chicago’s Hair and Face

In 2018, magazines and advertisers aren't the only ones photoshopping pictures. Anyone with a smartphone and an Instagram account can now edit just about any aspect of their appearance. Kim Kardashian West and her sisters, for example, have been called out time and again for allegedly altering their faces and bodies, but Kardashian West's latest apparent edit is drawing an even higher level of criticism than usual.

That criticism stems from what many see as an unnecessary and inappropriate edit that Kardashian West made to a photo of her baby daughter, Chicago West, cuddling with Kylie Jenner's daughter, Stormi Webster. The photo dates back to early September, when Jenner uploaded it to Instagram with the caption, "slumber party." Kardashian West, meanwhile, didn't add the snapshot to her own feed until about a week ago, at the beginning of October.

"Happiness," she captioned the pic, which, at first glance, appears to differ from her younger sister's version only in its desaturated filter, which Kardashian West ostensibly chose to complement the rest of her feed.

On Monday, however, Instagram account CelebFace, which regularly highlights the prevalence of photo editing by comparing original photos of celebrities to the versions they post of themselves, took a closer look at the two versions of the cuddly cousin picture. In a video that rapidly flips between the sisters' posts, besides the obvious filter change, Kardashian West also appears to have inexplicably smoothed out one section of Chicago's forehead and curly hair.

Nearly all who left messages on the comparison were outraged, shaming Kardashian West for seemingly sending a message to her eight-month-old daughter that she should be critical of her own appearance from such an early age. "I feel sorry about the poor child her mom doesn't see her perfect," one wrote. "Wow imagine photoshopping your own children," another added, while a third predicted, "She will give her kids body dysmorphia and it's sad."

Kardashian West has yet to respond to the accusations and criticism. Until she does, the best and safest course of action is to give her the benefit of the doubt and refrain from shaming her parenting and other decisions.
