Peacock's "Vampire Academy" Series Just Debuted a Teaser Trailer

Back-to-school season is looking a bit more supernatural this year since receiving our ~official~ invitation to attend St. Vladimir's Academy — courtesy of Peacock's new series Vampire Academy.
The series remake arrives eight years after the 2014 film of the same name, which starred Zoey Deutch. Revisiting the not-so-classic tale of life and love at boarding schools, Vampire Academy twists the narrative of human and vampire relations, with a description of the series reading, "Two young women's friendship transcends their strikingly different classes as they prepare to complete their education and enter vampire society."
Both the NBC Universal remake and the 2014 movie are based on author Richelle Mead's YA book series of the same name, Vampire Academy, which debuted in 2007. Giving fans a hint of what they can expect to see from this new iteration, series co-creator Julie Plec (she produced Vampire Diaries, FYI!) told Entertainment Weekly, "It's got everything: It's got the Bridgerton and The Hunger Games."
"At its core, it's a story about a friendship that nobody thinks can survive because society isn't built that way — and yet, through thick and thin, they have each other's backs," Plec continued. "That's what I love so much about it is yes there's romance aplenty ... But this is a story about these two women and how they, together, as a team are going to end up doing some really meaningful things in the world."

What is Vampire Academy about?
With the first season of Vampire Academy following the first book of the same name in Mead's series, we can expect that the plot will be similar.
The story begins with a half human, half vampire, Dhampir Rosemarie "Rose" Hathaway (Sisi Stringer), and her best friend, Moroi royalty Princess Vasilissa "Lissa' Dragomir (Daniela Nieves), who after two years on the run, has been brought back to their boarding school, St. Vladimir's Academy. Rose and Lissa become caught in and must untangle themselves from forbidden romances and the Strigoi — a group of evil and cold-blooded killer vampires who seek to turn Lissa into one of their own.
Is there a trailer for Vampire Academy?
We're in luck! Peacock just released the official trailer for Vampire Academy on August 17 — and let us just say, it's made us thirsty for more.
The trailer starts off by showing us the glamorous side of attending St. Vladimir's Academy with a ballroom scene and friendship outing between Lissa Dragomir and Rose Hathaway. It then quickly cuts to a brutal attack in the woods. The pair are seen facing many obstacles as they work together to stop the savage ‘Strigoi’ who threaten to tear their society apart and the Royal infighting all while Lissa prepares to ascend the throne.

On June 21, we got a first look at the series with a teaser trailer. In the short clip, Lissa is preparing for her role as a Royal Moroi when Rose Hathaway asks, "Is this something that you want?"
Lissa responds by shaking her head "no."
"There are a parade of people dying to be on the throne," she later tells Rose. "The only thing separating this dominion from that fate is me."
"Then go out there and show them all what you've got," Rose responds.
As Lissa's worries that she has "nothing" to show for herself come to light, Rose reassures her by saying, "Then I will get you out. I promise you that."
The teaser continues to hint at many obstacles ahead for both Lissa and Rose. But Rose has one very important task she aims to complete: "I want to protect my best friend from danger."
Despite the strange occurrences surrounding the pair's returns, Rose says they "will survive because there is no other option."
Who is in the cast of Vampire Academy?
As mentioned, vampire royalty Lissa is played by Daniela Nieves and while her protector and bestie Rose is portrayed by Sisi Stringer.
According to a press release, the deadly duo is joined by Kieron Moore, Andre Dae Kim, J. August Richards, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia Mckenna-Bruce, Rhian Blundell, Jonetta Kaiser, and Andrew Liner.
When will Vampire Academy be released?
