Yahoo Sports’ Krysten Peek shares her evaluation of Florida State Seminoles F Patrick Williams.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Patrick Williams is a 6' 8" forward and one of the biggest sleepers in this year's draft class. He only averaged 22.5 minutes per game and struggled from the field, averaging just under 10 points per game.
Williams is one of the most athletic players this year and very well could have been a lottery pick in the 2021 draft class. As the ball handler in the pick and roll situation, Williams is in the 90th percentile and points per possession. He's still so raw as a player, and NBA teams know they're getting a little bit of a project with Williams. But it could pay off a couple of years down the road.
Best case scenario, Williams is in the Kawhi Leonard mold, although that is a lofty comparison to make. He's also similar to former Wizards wing Chris Singleton. Both are similar in size and are long athletic wings. Singleton was a first round draft pick in 2011. And just like Williams, he also played at Florida State. It will be a couple of years until we see what kind of NBA player Williams will turn into. But with the right team and coaching staff, he could flourish.
