1.That time David left Patrick a series of embarrassing rambling voicemails.
In Season 3, Episode 8, David calls Patrick for the first time and ends up leaving some cringe-y voice mails. At this point, David isn't admitting he's crushing on Patrick and awkwardly ends the voice mail with "caio". Just, why?
2.When Patrick gave David the most sentimental gift on their first date...
Season 3, Episode 13 saw them having their first date at Café Tropical on David's birthday! He asked David to go to dinner for his birthday. This sent David into a tailspin — was this a date or just friends grabbing dinner? Thus panic caused him to invite Stevie with them, who promptly left soon after arriving at the restaurant. Over a plate of mozzarella sticks, Patrick surprised David with the cutest gift ever — a receipt from Rose Apothecary's first sale, framed and all. This was one of the sweetest gestures and really showed viewers how much Patrick liked David. In true David fashion, he responded with: "Um, this is not nothing," which is pretty big for him.
3.That time they had their first official kiss in a car and we all cried...
The same episode saw them kissing for the first time and goodness gracious was it sweet. David kissed Patrick in his car. The moment turned pretty sentimental with Patrick saying this was his first kiss with a guy. Patrick went on to say, "I was getting a little scared that I was going to let you leave here without us having done that, so thank you for making that happen for us." WHICH IS THE CUTEST THING EVER.
4.That time Patrick told David he felt what you're supposed to feel.
In Season 4, Episode 1, Patrick tells David that he finally felt "all the things that you're supposed to feel" during their kiss. David responded with: "In a way, it's like we're both starting something new," as he was starting to realize that for him, kissing a person he cares about was a game-changer.
5.When David was the only one in the room during Patrick's open mic night performance....
Yes, Rose Apothocary was packed that night, but Patrick only had eyes for David. In Season 4, Episode 6, David reluctantly agrees to host an open mic night as a way to gain new customer interest. Patrick then serenades him, choosing to perform an acoustic version of Tina Turner's "The Best", and IMO it really was the best performance of the night.
6.That time they celebrated their anniversary...
In Season 4, Episode 7, Patrick and David are celebrating their four-month anniversary. David notes that their relationship is the longest he’s ever had, and how he has never been happier. While the episode ends with their romance coming to a brief halt, do not fear. Soon, things get back on track with Patrick telling David: "You make me feel right."
7.That time they get in a fight so David serenades Patrick with a solo performance in apology.
After getting into their first fight, David apologizes by singing his own version of "The Best" in Season 4, Episode 9. Again, it was the BEST.
8.When Patrick told David he loved him for the first time....
Season 4, Episode 12 sees Patrick telling David he loves him for the first time! Yes, it happens in the best way imaginable with Patrick calling David his "Mariah Carey." At the time, David doesn't say it back but don't worry, he gets to it by the end of the episode.
9.That time Patrick reveals he's the jealous type....
Patrick throws a housewarming party in Season 5, Episode 5 in which David ends up kissing a drunk Ted due to a game of spin the bottle. To David's surprise, Patrick gets oh so jealous, which results in a sweet conversation later. David jokingly asks Patrick, "I'm sorry, are you saying you were jealous?" A bashful Patrick finally admits so.
10.That time David encourages Patrick to go out with another man....
In Season 5, Episode 6, a customer, Ken, hits on Patrick at the store. David tells him that he should go out with Ken, foolishly clinging to the idea that David is the first man Patrick's dated. David doesn't really want this to happen, and when Patrick decides not to go on the date, the most heartwarming moment occurs: Patrick ends up telling him he doesn't want to date anyone else. David then gives him a long hug and we all sighed in contentment.
11.That time David took one for the team and decided to play baseball....
David isn't the sporty type, yet he agrees to join Patrick's baseball team as a last-minute` player in Season 5, Episode 9. Miraculously, he does a great job! It shows how David is willing to put himself aside to help his partner.
12.When David helped Patrick come out to his parents....
In Season 5, Episode 11, David wants to surprise Patrick by inviting his parents to his birthday party. After learning that Patrick hadn't come out to his parents yet, it's too late to change course, especially since Johnny's already invited Patrick's parents to the party and also accidentally told them about Patrick and David. In the end, David helps Patrick find the courage to open up to his parents in what turns out to be a beautiful moment. Cue Aqualung's "Brighter Than Sunshine" which the happy couple slow dance to in the episode.
13.When Patrick got down on one knee and proposed to David....
In Season 5, Episode 13, Patrick insists they go on a hike. David is reluctant. After all, he's not the biggest outdoors guy. He ends up joining Patrick on the hike, where Patrick goes and proposes to him, with the best set of rings ever seen.
14.When they both became okay with their partners mishaps and oddities....
In Season 6, Episode 2, David accidentally wets the bed because of his wedding jitters. Patrick makes him feel better by revealing his own sleep habit: a secret mouth guard and an anti-snoring nose clip. True love blooms in the face of silly reveals.
15.That time David took care of Patrick after he got his wisdom teeth removed....
Season 6, Episode 5 shows David caring for Patrick who is loopy from general anesthesia. This plotline is pure fluff and shows how perfect these two are together. It results in a discussion about Patrick wanting to have David's kids.
16.When David decided to stay in Schitt's Creek for good...
In Season 6, Episode 13, David makes the decision to stay in town instead of going back to New York. He surprises Patrick by buying the house Patrick dreamed of purchasing. David really pulled on our heartstrings by saying the following: "It's not where you want to be, and I don't want to be anywhere you don't want to be."
17.That time Patrick calmed David down before the wedding...
When David was freaking out in Season 6, Episode 14, Patrick gallantly said the following: "At the end of the day, I'm going to kiss that worried-looking face of yours and call you my husband, and that's the only thing that matters." and we all melted into a puddle of cuteness.
18.That time they got married!
Season 6, Episode 14 shows our favorite couple finally saying "I do," and it's so emotional I need a moment. Shout out to Moira for officiating.
