Parkland football team will help Miami Dolphins on NFL draft night
The family of a football coach killed during the February shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, along with several members of the school’s football team, will announce the Miami Dolphins’ late-round picks at next week’s NFL draft.
Aaron Feis, a security guard and assistant football coach, was one of 17 people killed during the Feb. 14 shooting. Feis, 37, was remembered for his bravery in shielding students from gunfire. In addition to members of Feis’s family, 18 graduating seniors from the high school will also announce the picks in Rounds 4-7.
The Dolphins have lent support to the Parkland community, which is about 30 miles north of Hard Rock Stadium. The team donated $100,000 to the community and held a football clinic last month, and Dolphins coaches gave another $17,500 to Feis’s family. Members of the Dolphins, Heat, Panthers, and Marlins have all visited the community.
