Paris Hilton is the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of Hilton Hotels, and is perhaps best known for her public persona as an American socialite and one of the original reality TV stars. Born in New York City and raised both in New York and in Beverly Hills, California, Paris is also a businesswoman, model, singer, DJ and actress. She first made a true name for herself when she and Nicole Richie, now 41, starred in the reality television series The Simple Life between 2003 and 2007. She also catapulted to fame when her 2003 sex tape with then-boyfriend American poker player Rick Salomon leaked and was released one year later, called, 1 Night in Paris.

Although she is best known for being a socialite and one of the first real reality TV stars, Paris has quite an impressive resume. She made many cameos in movies such as Zoolander, Wonderland, and Cat In The Hat and had bigger roles in movies like House of Wax and National Lampoon's Pledge This! In 2004, Paris released her book Confessions of an Heiress, and in 2006, released her single "Stars Are Blind." Other business achievements include launching a perfume line, a nightclub franchise, hair extensions, an album, and a lot of Paris Hilton merchandise, among many other things.

In 2020 Paris surprised the world when she released a raw and emotional documentary called This Is Paris, which explains the side of her life that the public never got to see. "I built this kind of shield around me and kind of this persona, almost to hide behind, because I've been through so much where I just didn't even want to think about it anymore," she said at the time. "I'm happy for people to know that I am not a dumb blonde, I'm just very good at pretending to be one."

Past Relationships

Paris Hilton is now happily married to Carter Reum – and has been since November 11th, 2021 – but Carter wasn’t the first person to propose to her. She was actually engaged to Jason Shaw for a year before calling it off in 2003. Two years later, Paris Latsis had proposed to the hotel heiress, but the engagement was called off a few months later. She has had many other celebrity love interests, including Benji Madden (who has been married to Cameron Diaz since 2015) as well as Nick Carter, Adrian Grenier, and Spanish-born model River Viiperi. Actor Chris Zylka proposed to Paris in January 2018 with a $2M ring while the couple vacationed in Aspen, but the engagement was called off in November 2018.

Speaking of exes, in 2019 it was revealed that Carter had a secret daughter with his previous girlfriend, reality TV star Laura Bellizi. Although he isn’t involved in raising the daughter, he does reportedly help provide for her financially.

The Marriage To Carter Reum

Who did Paris Hilton marry? Paris Hilton married Carter Reum, and they tied the knot on November 11th, 2021 at the $61M former Bel Air estate of Paris's late grandfather, Barron Hilton, the successor of Conrad Hilton. The planning of the wedding was featured in the 13-episode reality TV show, Paris in Love, which debuted on November 11th, 2021 on Peacock. In February 2023, the series was renewed for a second season.

"As a little girl, I always told myself that I would get married at my grandfather’s former estate," Paris recalled. "I imagined having my fairytale wedding here, and it’s amazing that it actually came true. This estate brings back so many memories, and it means so much to be here surrounded by family and connected to all my loved ones on this day."

The date has a lot of significance, as the month and year is also the name of Paris’s new venture 11:11 Media, as well as her favorite numerals of the clock. Talk about attention to detail! "11:11 has always been my favorite time of day," Paris said. "It’s my reminder to make a wish and be open to miracles. This date is special to Carter and I – it represents our love story, which both of us knew was meant to be."

The wedding, planned by top wedding planner Mindy Weiss, had so many interesting details, including the official hashtag #foreverhiltonreum. Paris wore a stunning custom Oscar de la Renta wedding dress and walked down the aisle to Kim Petras singing "I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You" while the bride and groom's first dance was "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars.

Talking about her dress, Paris said: "We spent months designing my dress to perfection with the amazing Oscar de la Renta designers, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim. I love how it turned out. I wanted something that was timeless, elegant, chic, and iconic, and I am so happy."

It wasn’t just the dress that stood out, as stylist Sammy K helped Paris accessorize to perfection, while Eduardo Ponce did her hair and Steven Tabimba gave her the perfect flawless glow to go along with her theme. "Our overall inspo was timeless beauty," Ponce said. "We wanted Paris to look fresh and chic. The dress is such a masterpiece we didn’t want to overdo the glam. We kept it clean and simple."

"Throughout the years, I was always searching for my partner," Paris said the morning after the wedding. "Not only someone to share my dreams with but a man to build a future together. I was looking for my equal. Someone who wasn’t fascinated with 'Paris Hilton' but instead, someone who saw the real me and loved me for me. Someone who is loving and kind. Someone to be a father to my future children. I’m so proud of my love story with Carter, and even more excited that it’s just beginning."

Who Is Carter Reum?

Carter Milliken Reum is Paris Hilton's husband. The 42-year-old author and entrepreneur is from Chicago, Illinois, and his father Robert Reum was the president, CEO and chairman of Amsted Industries, an industrial firm conglomerate based in Chicago. Carter's sister Halle is also linked to the business world through her marriage to Oliver Hammond, a descendent of businessman, investor and philanthropist Walter Annenberg's family.

After graduating, Carter went on to work for the investment bank and financial services company Goldman Sachs for several years, until he and his brother, Courtney Reum, left to launch the alcohol company VEEV Spirits in 2007. VEEV was a nationwide success within 10 years, and the brothers sold the company in 2016 to focus their attention on new investment and brand development firm, M13. In 2018, Carter and his brother co-authored the book Shortcut Your Startup: Ten Ways to Speed Up Entrepreneurial Success in a bid to share their entrepreneurial insights with the world.

Paris And Carter's Relationship

Paris Hilton and Carter Reum have known each other for over 15 years. They reconnected through a friend on Thanksgiving in 2019, and started dating shortly after. Carter proposed in February 2021 while the two were celebrating Paris's 40th birthday on a private island.

Paris told her fans about the engagement on Instagram, writing, "When you find your soulmate, you don't just know it. You feel it. My love & I have been together since our first date, and for my birthday, he arranged a special trip to tropical paradise. As we walked to dinner along the beach, Carter led us to a cabana adorned with flowers and dropped to one knee. I said yes, yes to forever. There's no one I'd rather spend forever with… Here's to Love - the Forever Kind."

The engagement ring was designed by Jean Dousset, a French jeweler who also happens to be the great-great-grandson of Louis-François Cartier. "It is a three-stone ring design with an emerald-cut center stone, featuring baguette-cut and trapezoid accent diamonds," says Dousset. "The design of the ring derives from a combination of classical and Art Nouveau era influences. The geometric shapes of this ring are befitting to resemble the structure of the Grand Palais in Paris." Dousset added: "It's the city where I am from, and of course, the wearer of the ring's namesake."
