New parents looking to Marvel characters as they name their new babies

Marvel is totally crushing it in the baby-naming sweepstakes! “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Infinity War” have made history at the box office this year, so it’s only natural that fans pay tribute to their favorite superheroes, right? Some superfans have taken their love for Marvel comics and movies to a whole new level, naming their kids after Marvel characters. The U.S. Social Security Administration released data of the 1,000 most popular baby names in 2017. While Liam and Emma came in as the No. 1 names, there was another chart topper — Parker. Does that remind you of anyone? Spidey-senses are tingling, because that sounds a lot like Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man! There are 1,487 females and 4,346 males who share the name Parker. And let’s not forget about the Merc with a Mouth! Wade is a superpopular moniker right now. Could parents be inspired by Wade Wilson? Maybe they think Ryan is a better name, since it’s on the list, too. It crossed over as a name for both boys and girls. Ryan Reynolds, Wade Wilson, same person, right? Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, is going to love this. The name Anthony came in at No. 32! His fiancée, Pepper Potts, is also a favorite. She shares her name with 128 kids. There are some little Peppers running around — now that’s really cute. Chris Pratt has something to brag about. The name Chris is among the most popular names for boys. Bonus: His “Guardians of the Galaxy” character, Peter Quill, has a trendy name, too. Peter was well liked, and 20 kids have the name Quill. Sorry, Star-Lord didn’t make the cut, but how awesome would it be to rock that name?
