With 2,625 colors available, you’d think Pantone has just about every color imaginable. Well, think again! Pantone just released not one or two, not even 10, but a whopping 315 new colors as part of its fashion, home, and interiors color system.
Among the latest colors are 70 new blue hues and 50 new pink shades. Some colors in the batch reflect variations on the most popular choices out there, but “all color families were expanded for additional nuances and vibrancies,” according to Pantone’s website.
The new color collection offers more specific color matching and was designed to reflect current and future trends. “The colors that are influencing design today have evolved to reflect shifting societal views, new technological innovations, and a truly global outlook,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said in a statement.
Adding more pinks to the mix, for example, comes from the rise of the color family in the home space. Certain shades of pink that might work well in the fashion world might not work best for interiors. Pantone wants to give more options in that sense, Eiseman told Apartment Therapy. The current and future trend connection is relevant in the color names, too, like Pink Cosmos and its tie to the boom of astrology-lovers.
Now that there are 315 more colors out there for you to play with...sounds like you have an excuse to go repaint and redecorate every room in your home!
