Since when do dames and former Baywatch stars wear crowns? Since they became accessories in the fight against climate change, apparently.

Pamela Anderson and Dame Vivienne Westwood coordinated in paper crowns at the designer and James Jagger’s Mad Max party in London on Feb. 20, which coincided with an event organized by environmental activist group Climate Revolution.

The crowns were colored in crayons and had “Ecotricity” written on them. Ecotricity is the world’s first green electricity company. The headpieces had plastic flatware, clothespins, and other random items sticking out from them and words like “rot” scribbled in smaller letters.

Westwood is known for being a vocal activist, and the crowns with a message made their debut at her politically charged London Fashion Week Men’s show in January — which was actually unisex.

According to an entry written by Westwood on the Climate Revolution website, the crowns stand for “We are the People, we rule the world.”

It wasn’t until last night that a major celebrity donned the accessory. Anderson, also an activist, most notably for PETA, let the crown have all the glory in a subdued shiny black dress with long sleeves and a high neck. The former Playboy model wore fishnet stockings under the short frock and simple black Christian Louboutin pumps. She carried a green-and-navy clutch. Her hair and makeup were also subdued; her locks were loose and wavy, and her makeup was naturally applied.

The point of the Climate Revolution event, called “Switch,” was to get people to switch their energy supplier to Ecotricity. And thanks to their models Anderson and Westwood, the message was loud and clear.
