Palace slammed for 'erasing Diana from history' in Charles' birthday video

To mark Prince Charles’ 70th birthday a series of family photos have been released, as well as a documentary and a brand new biography.

A video was also released on the Clarence House Twitter page, showcasing the Prince of Wales’ life in pictures.

Royal fans up in arms

However, there’s one aspect of the video that’s got some royal fans up in arms – the late Princess Diana only appears in one photo.

At the 1 minute 29 second mark, a black and white photo from 1985 of Charles, Diana and their two children, Prince William and Prince Harry, appears in the reel of images – but it is the only time the late princess is seen in the video.

One person accused the royal family of having the Princess of Wales “effectively erased from history”.

Another noted that while Diana was featured once, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall was featured five times in the reel.

One other simply expressed their sadness Diana was only in one photo.

However, others pointed out the day was a celebration of the Prince of Wales, not of Princess Diana.

One person insisted the the memory of Diana has been cherished, “but today belongs to The Prince of Wales”.

Others echoed a similar sentiment.

Princess Diana snubbed in Prince Charles’ 70th BBC documentary

In the BBC documentary, Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, aired last week in the UK, but fans spotted Diana was ignored in the programme.

Prince William and Prince Harry’s late mother didn’t feature in the candid special, despite the fact she was married to Charles for 15 years.

The shock snub is strange, as Wills and Harry both give in-depth interviews during the TV special, as does his wife, Camilla — the Duchess of Cornwall.

Royal family portraits

Earlier this week, two adorable portraits of the royal family have been released, ahead of the Prince of Wales’ 70th birthday.

The photos, which were taken by photographer, Chris Jackson, back in September, show Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, sitting on a bench with five-year-old Prince George and three-year-old Princess Charlotte.

Behind them Prince William can be seen beaming, while his wife, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, holds on tight to their precious six-month-old baby boy, Prince Louis.
