From Cosmopolitan

If you aren't already familiar with Ozark actress Julia Garner, here's everything you need to know in a nutshell: She's better than your faves. And by "your faves," I mean the Game of Thrones cast (YEAH, I SAID IT), and she just won her first Emmy Award. Julia's work in Ozark is best described as ~a heartbreaking work of staggering genius~ and hopefully you've already joined the illustrious club of people obsessed with her. But the time has come for a deeper dive. Deep, like my passion for preaching that Ozark is more worthy of awards than Game of Thrones, sorry.

An-y-way, here's what you need to know about Julia now that she's a casual award-winning actress:

Her Real Accent Is 100 Percent Different Than the One She Has in Ozark

Julia is from the Bronx, so yeah, no, she doesn't have a Missouri accent. "I wanted the job so bad that I actually prepared with a Missouri accent," she told Fashion Magazine. "And when I got to the audition, I could hear the other actors reading their lines, and was like, 'None of them have the accent, I’m screwed.' But I couldn’t remember my lines when I wasn’t doing the accent. So, I just had to do the accent—and it worked."

Here's what she sounds like IRL:

She Method-Acted Her Ozark Role

Or at least she method-acted TF outta that accent. Julia says she spent a full month talking like her character, Ruth Langmore. "I wanted to sound authentic, so a month before doing Ozark, I would only speak in the accent,” she told IndieWire. “I would walk around everywhere [using the accent]. I’d order my food with the accent. You kind of get a sense of the character [that way].”

She's Engaged to the Dude from Foster the People

Aka Mark Foster, the lead singer of the band. They've been dating for a while, are super cute on social, and a People source confirms they got engaged during a trip to Yellowstone where THIS picture was taken:

Mark Foster did good. Let's go ahead and enjoy a blurry zoom:

She's Obsessed with Real Housewives

Julia confirmed this very important fact to Fashion Magazine when they asked what she does to decompress. Direct quote: "Housewives. It’s bad. But I don’t even have to watch. I can just go to the other room and just hear them banter, I love it."

She's Shocked She Got an Emmy Nomination for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

TBH, I'm shocked that she hasn't been nominated before—but Julia is surprised it even happened this time around. "It’s just so surreal, I can’t even wrap my head around it," she told Vulture. "When I was a kid, I knew about the three big awards shows—the Oscars, the Emmys, and the Tonys. It just doesn’t feel real. The months leading up, I’d been in work mode—I’m still in work mode—but I just wasn’t thinking much about the Emmys. And then two days before [the nominations], I got really nervous. I didn’t even think about me, it was more worried for the show, like, What if the show isn’t even nominated? That would be terrible. The day of, I put my phone on airplane mode. Later that day, my friends FaceTimed me and they told me."

Her Style Icons Should Be Your Style Icons

They include Audrey Hepburn, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, and Diane Keaton. Name a better trio! And speaking of ~STYLE~, Julia attended the Met Gala this year. In case you were too busy watching Gaga's endless outfit change to notice, this is what she delivered:

And Finally, SHE! WAS! IN! DIRTY! JOHN!

If you, an Ozark fan, are wondering why Julia looks so familiar and you're too lazy to open yet another Wikipedia tab, it's because she played one of the daughters in Bravo's Dirty Johnaka the true crime series starring Connie Britton, double aka your favorite show. Who knew?!
