Natalie Portman wears names of snubbed female directors on custom cape at Oscars 2020

Natalie Portman continues to speak out on behalf of female directors with the names of those that were snubbed by the Oscars on her custom cape.

The actress famously presented the award for best director at the 2018 Golden Globes where she announced the “all male nominees.” And two years later, she’s bringing attention to the same issue by highlighting the women who she says created “incredible” films.

“I wanted to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year, in my subtle way,” she said on the red carpet while pointing to the names on her Dior cape.

The names listed included Greta Gerwig, who directed Little Women and Melina Matsoukas, the woman behind Queen & Slim.

Naturally, people are calling the bold look a “power move.”

Portman is presenting at Sunday evening’s Academy Awards where people hope she’ll have another impactful statement to make.
