Oscars 2020: Elton John Wins Best Original Song for Rocketman

At the 2020 Oscars tonight, Elton John won Best Original Song for the second time in his career. “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from Rocketman won the award over songs from Toy Story 4 (by Randy Newman), Frozen II (“Into the Unknown”), Breakthrough (by Diane Warren), and Harriet (by Cynthia Erivo). “Wow, this doesn’t suck,” co-writer Bernie Taupin said as he and Sir Elton stepped onstage to accept their Oscar. Elton John performed the song during the show. He previously won Best Original Song for his Lion King single “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” Earlier this year, “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again)” won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song, and Taron Egerton won Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for his performance in the film.

At one point during the Oscars, Elton John got a moment to catch up with his one-time collaborator Eminem, who delivered a surprise performance earlier in the show. See the photo below.
