For the second year running, the 2020 Oscars did not have a host.

But there were still plenty of one-liners on the night of the ceremony, with guest presenters including Maya Rudolf, Kristen Wiig and Josh Gad stepping up to the plate.

After Janelle Monáe opened the ceremony with an elaborately choreographed musical number, Steve Martin and Chris Rock delivered the opening duologue, earning the first big laughs of the night.

Climate change denial, Hollywood vanity and the Irishman’s lengthy runtime were just some of the topics that were skewered.

Below is a list of the evening’s best jokes.

“Jeff Bezos is so rich, he got divorced, and he’s still the richest man in the world. He saw Marriage Story and thought it was a comedy.” - Chris Rock

“A couple of years ago, there was a big disaster here at the Oscars where they accidentally read out the wrong name...they have guaranteed that this will not happen this year because the Academy has switched to the new Iowa caucus app.” - Steve Martin

“They don’t really have hosts anymore. Why is that?” “Twitter!” - Steve Martin and Chris Rock

“I loved the first season of The Irishman” - Chris Rock

“Mahershala Ali’s here tonight. Mahershala has two Oscars. You know what that means when the cops pull him over? Nothing!” - Chris Rock
