Oregon Wildfires Cause 'Dirt Brown Skies' Over Mount Angel
Dense smoke settled over areas of Willamette Valley, Oregon, on Saturday, September 10, as the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a red flag warning in the area and urged residents to take measures against sparking unintended fires.
The smoke came from several fires in Oregon, most notably the Cedar Creek Fire burning around Waldo Lake near the center of the state and the Double Creek Fire in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, the Willamette Week reported.
According to a post on the City of Salem Twitter page, the Vitae Springs Fire burning in the Willamette Valley area was 100 percent contained on September 10, but evacuation orders issued on September 9 remained in effect.
