Uber-cool retailer Opening Ceremony is known for its stellar collaborations. In the past, they’ve worked with everyone from Disney to Vans to Birkenstock to Lacoste, and their latest must-have drop sees them teaming up with two workwear giants: Dickies and Timberland.
The collab with the two iconic brands launched on August 6 and features just a few pieces: Timberland work boots in pink, tan, or black with the Dickies logo featured on the back; a printed button-down shirt festooned with the classic Dickies logo; and loose-fit Dickies printed pants or shorts in black, khaki, or grey. It’s a simple collection but we love how Opening Ceremony put its cool, trend-forward stamp on these heritage brands, giving them a playful twist and exposure to a new shopper. The pieces are unisex and can be worn however you choose to style them; you can rock a full-on Dickies two-piece look with the shirt and pants worn together or play with proportions and wear the shirt over a minidress or the pants with a lacy cami top. It’s all up to you! And who doesn’t love a pair of the classic Timberland boots, especially in a chic rose pink shade? We’d love to snap those up for back to school.
The collab is fronted by two change-making models: Maria Osuda, who opened her own modeling agency, Guerxs in Mexico City, and works to promote representation in the beauty industry with a focus on indigenous Mexican talent, and Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, a climate change activist who is the youth director of conservation group Earth Guardians. In 2016, he was one of the teens who sued the federal government to act on climate change. “This is the moment where we decide what kind of legacy we are going to leave behind for future generations,” Xiuhtezcatl, who was just 16 years old at the time, said of the case. He’s also a musician, dropping an album called Break Free in 2018 and a new single, “S.W.Y.M,” just last week.
The collaboration is available now on Opening Ceremony’s website and retails for $180-225.
