*Major spoilers for Only Murders In The Building season 1 below!*

The season finale of Hulu's hit murder mystery-meets-comedy series, Only Murders In The Building, is finally upon us, and I already know you must have tons of questions running through your head because of that ending. Throughout the course of the season, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver put their true crime knowledge to the test as they investigate and record a podcast to document the case. There are quite a few suspects including Tie-Die Guy, Theo Dimas, and even The Police's frontman, Sting. Just when Mabel, Charles, and Oliver successfully find out who's actually behind the murder of their neighbor, Tim Kono, there's an unexpected twist at the end of season 1. If you followed the show since its first episode aired or just finished your binge-watch, odds are you're processing everything that went down. Ahead, find what this ending could mean for season 2.

Who killed Tim Kono?

This is the question everyone wants to be answered throughout the season — be it the trio, the Arconiacs, or real-life viewers like you and me. It's a classic case of "Whodunnit," and while you may have believed it to be the Dimases or even Oscar, those theories are a little more obvious. What about those who lurk in the background, or somehow find a way to get involved in the investigation? Or, in this case, those who have been targeted and threatened with ominous handwritten notes?

All the clues lead back to Jan the bassoonist, who Charles had started dating in the midst of the investigation. She had also been romantically linked to Tim despite their age difference and killed him as a way of breaking up. Oliver and Mabel make this discovery as they find a bassoon cleaner that they had mistaken for an intimate toy. One thing's for sure: Jan definitely has a type, and it's lonely men. Charles was going to be her next victim as she laced a handkerchief with poison in an attempt to kill him before he escaped. Throughout the confrontation, Charles recorded Jan's confession to Tim's murder, which is more than enough proof to lock her up.

What happened after they found the killer?

After Mabel, Charles, and Oliver successfully discovered that Jan was Tim Kono's killer, they had a word with Bunny, the building's housing board director. Bunny had threatened to evict the trio from the building when other tenants at the Arconia felt that their investigation and podcast was a disturbance. After she told Mabel and Oliver that they won't be evicted, they basically gave Bunny the finger since she doubted their investigation the entire time. "Hey Bunny, congrats! You're the most hated person in the building now, you cranky old b*tch," Mabel called out to her.

The trio then celebrated with champagne on the rooftop of the Arconia, and Mabel went to grab something from her apartment. A new case surrounding the trio may unravel in season 2 after Charles and Oliver find Mabel covered in blood and hunched over Bunny's dead body. It seems that Mabel may have defended herself with her knitting needle, but as soon as Charles and Oliver make their way in, she says "It's not what you think." It's not really clear what happened exactly, but the trio seems to be prime suspects in the next case as they get arrested.

Along with the police, tenants, and news reporters, Cinda Canning is outside the Arconia at the end of the season finale when the trio enters cop cars. She plans to make them the next subject of her true-crime podcast, titled Only Murderers In The Building.

What will happen in season 2?

There's no telling what will happen next, but it's very likely that OMITB season 2 will explore Bunny's murder case. It seems that Mabel, Charles, and Oliver will be prime suspects as Cinda Canning plans on following the second murder case at the Arconia with her next project, Only Murderers In The Building.

Showrunner John Hoffman told Deadline that the trio is "in the hot seat" at the end of season 1. "They have to reckon with their relationship with Bunny in the days prior to what happens at the end of the season and there's a lot that went down. Mabel said some unkind things about her outside of the Arconia. Oliver had a long history of conflict with Bunny. And Charles was deeply offended at the idea of being evicted by her after 30 years," John said. "There's all that plus their connection to true crime and their respective histories which we will learn more about. There's a lot there we start peeling back that's built around what happened at the end of Season 1 and leading into 2. It gets more complicated and more fun in weird ways. It also puts pressure on them to solve the case."
