Karlie Kloss is a respected figure in the fashion industry, as she’s walked runways around the world and snagged lucrative endorsements from top brands. However, not many know that she also displays a keen interest in the world of technology.

Kloss founded a coding camp and scholarship program for young women, dubbed Kode With Klossy, in 2015.

Featured on the cover of the February issue of the American business magazine Fast Company, the 24-year-old discusses her business and technology interests and her keys to success.

The model posted an image of the cover on her Instagram account, captioning the shot, “I’ve had the privilege of being on many covers in my 10 year career, but there’s something especially meaningful about this one. Still so much hard work ahead, but I’m incredibly honored and proud to cover @fastcompany February issue.”

In the issue, the 6-foot-2-inch Victoria’s Secret model explains that her fascination with technology combined with a lack of knowledge and understanding led her to explore the realm.

“I follow my nerdy passions, even if they are kind of unexpected,” she told Fast Company. “Being true to yourself, as cheesy as that sounds, is important. If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing — if you’re pretending to be something you’re not — then it’s not sustainable.”

The supermodel and co-founder of the cookie line Karlie’s Kookies also divulged that she appreciates the idea of a challenge and enjoys “creative problem solving.”

“It takes a while to get something to work,” she said. “It takes a while before you can build an app or even write your first line of code. But these skills — seeing a problem and finding the solution using code — are so important. [They] help you understand how to think about things. It’s a valuable skill set even if you don’t become an engineer.”
