Olivia Wilde Paired Sequins With Fiery Red Latex Opera Gloves

Olivia Wilde wore the most memorable look of the night to the 2022 LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles. The Don’t Worry Darling actor-director sparkled in a Gucci chevron-patterned purple and silver sequined slip dress with a zigzag hemline. The finishing touch? A pair of fetish-inspired fire-engine-red latex opera gloves and heeled sandals in a matching hue.

Purple and red aren’t exactly coordinating colors, but that tension is what makes Wilde’s ensemble so playful and unexpected. Royal purple has become a recurring theme in Italian creative director Alessandro Michele’s recent work, as seen on Wilde’s boyfriend and Gucci muse Harry Styles, who sported the hue while on tour.

Sponsored by Gucci, the annual fundraiser honored director Park Chan-wook and artist Helen Pashgian. Sporting a similarly daring ’fit, fellow LACMA attendee Kendall Jenner partied in a sheer, long-sleeve bodysuit with a dangerously low-rise silver skirt that moved like liquid metal.
