Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett Reunited at the 'HSM:TM:TS' Premiere and Twitter Is Simply Not Okay

Truly can't think of anything more awkward than reuniting with an ex for the popular TV show we both still happen to be in, so shoutout to Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett, who just bravely smiled their way through the premiere of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

The former couple showed up on the red carpet last night and posed for several photos together, causing HSM:TM:TS Twitter to somewhat spiral. But first, the pics:

While this is truly a plot twist no one saw coming due to, you know, Olivia allegedly writing “Drivers License” about Joshua and his rumored relationship with Sabrina Carpenter, things have actually been okay between them for a while. Back in March 2020, Joshua told BuzzFeed, “I get it. I get why people are asking about that stuff—but it doesn’t really get to me. I’m also proud of her and the success that her song is having. I really couldn’t be mad at the situation.” He also expressed his support for "Deja Vu" on Insta Stories, writing “SUUUUUUPER late on this but I love this song so much, Olivia. The world better watch out for the album.”

That said, back in December 2021 Joshua dropped new music that definitely seemed to be about Olivia, considering lyrics like “And if you get to tell your truth, then so do I / And it’s cool if you want me to play the bad guy / But don’t you dare act like I didn’t love you,” and “Half the shit you’re saying’s only half true / Messing with my life as a career move / I can’t help but wonder why you won’t make it end?”
