OKC rookie Terrance Ferguson has monster breakout with highlight dunks, 3s

Talk about making the most of garbage time.

With Oklahoma City making early work of the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday in a 133-96 win, Thunder rookie guard Terrance Ferguson got some extended run and may have started started a campaign for an appearance in the dunk contest.

He demonstrated his hops and showmanship on the Staples Center floor with a pair of rim-rocking dunks. The first here came in traffic. On the second, he was all alone and managed to add a little extra flair.

But wait. That’s not all. Ferguson wasn’t all garbage-time dunks in L.A. He exploded in the second half for 22 points on six three-pointers. He finished the game with 24 points and three steals in 33 minutes.

Even the foreign-language broadcast got excited about the Thunder rookie.

The No. 21 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft who skipped college to play in Australia, Ferguson has seen very limited action so far, averaging 1.3 points in seven minutes per game in 22 games.

Here’s guessing the 19-year-old earned himself more minutes moving forward on Wednesday night. If he keeps it up, he may find himself back at Staples Center for All-Star Saturday.
