Netflix's Sweet Magnolias has officially been renewed for season 4

Easily one of our favourite shows this summer was season three of Sweet Magnolias on Netflix. With 10 episodes full of the South Carolina adventures of Maddie, Dana Sue and Helen, it was the ideal comfort watch.

But given how the series ended on a pretty conclusive note, we've been pretty skeptical about the series' future and whether we'd see the cast of Sweet Magnolias again. So will there be a season four of Sweet Magnolias?

Here's everything we know about season four of Sweet Magnolias on Netflix, including what the cast have said about it, a potential cast list and what we can expect in another season.

Has Sweet Magnolias season 4 been confirmed?

Yes! Netflix officially confirmed we'd be heading back to South Carolina for season four of Sweet Magnolias.

Making the announcement on their official X (formerly known as Twitter) account, the streamer said: "Sweet Magnolias has been renewed for Season 4!!!"

So far it's not been confirmed when the series will begin filming or when we can expect it to air, but we'll be sure to update you when we find out.

What have the cast of Sweet Magnolias said about season 4?

*Spoilers* Brooke Elliott, who plays Dana Sue, told TV Line she was pleased to see her character reuniting with Ronnie at the end of season three, but that she hoped there was still an open door for potential more episodes.“I thought it was a brilliant combination of a happy ending but also hope for more,” she said.

“That was the brilliance in the way it was written. The finale did have some closure, but if you dig in, you can see that there are still stories to come. There are other pieces that could be revealed. Hopefully we get more [seasons]. That would be great.”

Heather Headley, who plays Helen, added that the cast knew the fans needed more than the usual cliffhanger at the end of season three. "I think the poor fans would kill us if there was another cliffhanger," she joked. "I’m glad it ended with a period or an exclamation point. Maybe it’s a dot, dot, dot… question mark."

What might happen in Sweet Magnolias season 4?

Given season three ended on less of a cliffhanger than ever before it's hard to say for sure what the next season will cover.

Season three ended with Maddie and Cal staying together, and Bill promising to do better by Maddie and the kids. Dana Sue and Ronnie renewed their vows in front of the whole town.

And after avoiding each all season, Helen and Erik appear to end the series on good terms after reconnecting at Dana Sue's vow renewal. The two shared a glance when Helen caught the bouquet at the ceremony, but Erik is now dating another woman. Could their relationship rekindle in the next series?

So right now we're not exactly sure which direction the series will go in, but either way we're excited for its return.

Who might star in season four of Sweet Magnolias?

We couldn't really see a season of Sweet Magnolias without the three leading women, so we'd hope/expect JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Maddie Townsend), Brooke Elliot (Dana Sue Sullivan) and Heather Headley (Helen Decatur) would reprise their roles.

When it comes to their fellow cast members, at the moment there's no obvious storylines that would rule people out from returning, so let's hope the full cast returns for season four.

One person who wouldn't be returning is Bianca Berry Tarantino as Katie Townsend, as Tarantino has now left the role ahead of season three due to scheduling conflicts and has been replaced by Ella Grace Helton, who we would expect to return for season four.
