Netflix's newest limited thriller series Treason, has had hooked so much we almost forgot it was Christmas (the key is almost). The five-part series tells the gripping story of the deputy head of MI6 Adam Lawrence (Charlie Cox) who must take over as the head of the institution after his boss is poisoned.

However, things are not as they initially appear, after a woman from Adam's past threatens to disrupt his life and position at MI6. Kara (Olga Kurylenko), a Russian spy, wants Adam to help her get answers to who killed her men in Baku, 15 years ago. The event caused an uprising in the city and Baku fell to the Russians.

As the series progresses it is revealed Adam's boss at MI6 Sir Martin Angelis (Ciarán Hinds) is aware of a double agent for the Russians with the code name Dorian, who was responsible for the fall of Baku. He strongly suspects it's Adam who has committed this act of treason.

But is Adam really Dorian? And if he's not, who could it be? Here's everything you need to know.

Who is Dorian in Netflix's Treason?

Dorian is a double agent for the Russians who was responsible for killing Kara's men in Baku, which later led to the city falling to the Russians.

Throughout the series it's not clear if it is Adam and as a viewer, it's unclear whether we can trust his actions. Both the CIA and Angelis suspect him of being Dorian as they have access to a tape recording of a phone call between two SVR agents who are talking about a double agent called Dorian.

However, in the fifth episode Adam is revealed not to be Dorian.

Warning: spoilers ahead. In the final episode of Treason, Adam and Kara plan to give Audrey Angelis' files to prove he is corrupt and blackmailing senior politicians.

The files contain the transcript about Dorian. If Adam was Dorian it would be pretty stupid to give the future prime minister a detailed file about your identity as a double agent.

Before Adam can give the files to Audrey however, he is shot dead by Dede, a CIA agent, as she believes he is Dorian.

Later in the episode, Kara reveals to Adam's wife Maddy (Oona Chaplin) she knows Adam isn't Dorian as he was with her the night her men were killed.

So who is Dorian? Well Maddy and Kara are on a mission to find that out. The day after Adam is killed Angelis is planning a conference to expose Adam's act of treason.

Kara calls her associate in the Russian government saying she will give her the files if she gets her a plane ticket out of the UK. Kara uses this as a ruse to reveal Dorian's identity, as the Russians will send him to collect the files from Maddy at the conference, as he is the only one with a cover.

As Maddy enters the conference hall, she is approached by Patrick (Adam James) Adam's friend at MI6. Patrick tells Maddy to give him the files as Adam had promised to do so the day before. This of course triggers massive alarm bells for Maddy and she then realises Patrick is in fact Dorian.

And to be fair, we should have seen it from the beginning, Russia was literally Patrick's area of operation for MI6.

Luckily, Maddy refuses to give him the files and gets them to Audrey who exposes Angelis.

We never really get an explanation of why Patrick was working as a double agent as Kara kills him off at the end of the episode using a powder poison.

When did the cast find out who Dorian was?

It was a shock for us to discover the identity of Dorian, and it turns out it was pretty surprising to the cast too.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK Oona Chaplin, who played Maddy, said the cast found out Patrick was Dorian when they received their scripts.

She said even though she was shocked at the twist ending, a part of her wished it really had been Adam.

"I was surprised, because there was a part of me that was actually hoping that it was Charlie.

"I thought wouldn't it have been another double, triple twist that it's actually he [Adam] is the bad guy."

Now that really would have been a twist! Luckily Adam did turn out to be the good guy in the end.

Treason is available on Netflix now.
