Prince Harry’s secret Instagram account was revealed.
Meghan Markle followed the account shortly after she and Harry met.
His handle was @SpikeyMau5.
Okay, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s Finding Freedom book detailing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s love story and all the unfortunate drama that followed them is so dang juicy. The book isn’t even out yet, but according to some just-released excerpts, we already know that Meghan and Harry got engaged way before they made it public, “Kate [Middleton] did little to bridge the divide” between herself and Meghan, and Prince William thought Harry was “blindsided by lust.” Seriously, the biography exposes so much about the royals, and now, we also know what Harry’s secret Instagram handle was.
Apparently, back when Meghan had her own personal IG and soon after she met Harry for the first time, she followed an account called @SpikeyMau5. According to Finding Freedom, although Harry didn’t use his own photo as his avi, this was definitely Harry’s account because it riffed on one of his favorite house music artists, DeadMau5. Plus, “Spikey” is a nickname the Scotland Yard officers used to call him and is similar to his old Facebook name, Spike Wells.
Sadly, we don’t know what Harry used to post about, but my money is on really crappy video footage from a DeadMau5 show and throwbacks like this gem:
Even more upsetting, after doing a quick search on IG, it’s clear that his old account is no longer active. When Harry and Meghan stepped back from the royal family, their Instagram presence was scaled back to nothing. Their @SussexRoyal account is still active, but it hasn’t been updated since March, ultimately making Instagram a Harry-less wasteland, as far as I’m concerned!
