It's Official: Prince Harry's Tell-All Memoir Is On Its Way

It appears Prince Harry is following that age-old American tradition of crossing the pond, settling in America, and then running afoul of the monarchy. On Monday, Penguin Random House announced that it will publish Harry's forthcoming memoir in late 2022, for global distribution. The book will cover Harry's entire life, from growing up in England to his service in Afghanistan and beyond. Even better, the publisher also reports that all proceeds will be donated to charity.
In the press release from Penguin Random House, Prince Harry said, "I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become. I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story—the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned—I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think."
Earlier in the day, Page Six reported that the Harry has been working with writer J. R. Moehringer, who won a Pulitzer Prize for feature writing in 2000. There is no word as to how much the upcoming memoir will touch on the tense exit Harry and Meghan Markle from royal duties, but the description of the book says that it is "for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him."
The announcement comes a few months after the bombshell interview that Oprah had with Markle before Harry joined for the latter portion. The two have since collaborated on The Me You Can't See, an Apple TV+ docuseries that highlights the particularities of mental health—a topic that, considering Harry's past advocacy, will no doubt be part of the book.
As for what this means for the royal family, that is yet to be known. And likely depends on just how in depth Harry goes in the untitled project.
