You Can Now Stay the Night in Patsy Cline’s Tennessee “Dream Home”
With Nashville’s longtime standing as the Hollywood of country music, it isn’t hard to visit the city and inevitably stumble upon one of many historic sites with ties to country legends. Super fans have likely toured the Country Music Hall of Fame, jammed to live music at the Ryman Auditorium, and sipped on craft beers at the Bluebird Café. But where to go if you want to sleep among the country greats?
The answer is a modest, red-brick ranch house in the quiet Nashville suburb of Goodlettsville. The converted Vrbo rental, while unassuming on the outside, has an impressive past that makes it a must-see on any country fan’s itinerary: It was once home to hall of famer Patsy Cline.
Cline, whose life story will be told alongside fellow country great Loretta Lynn in the Lifetime biopic Patsy & Loretta (premiering October 19), famously catapulted to stardom in the ‘50s, with hits including “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “I Fall to Pieces,” and “Crazy.” She went on to become the first female country star to headline a tour in Las Vegas, the success of which afforded Cline the money to secure a down payment on what she reportedly dubbed her “Dream House.”

At 29, with a burgeoning career and a list of mega-hits under her belt, Cline had it all, until her life sadly came to an abrupt halt when the singer was killed in a plane crash shortly after purchasing the home. But the 10 months the crooner spent in the home were, understandably, epic. According to the Vrbo listing, many Nashville legends hung out and jammed in the home’s lower level Music Room, including Johnny Cash and June Carter, Loretta Lynn, and Brenda Lee.
And now you can, too. Today, the iconic Music Room is used as an 800-square foot guest suite, with a pair of double beds, a patio, full kitchen, and bar. Decked out to match the retro style that Patty herself may have had and loved, the apartment sports parquet floors and bubblegum pink appliances, plus photographs of the country star in her prime. On the patio floor, a mural pays homage to Patsy’s 1963 hit “Sweet Dreams,” one of the last songs the icon would ever record.
