Hot off the steps of the Met Gala red carpet, Lady Gaga is returning to Las Vegas, continuing a residency at the Park MGM. And this time, she’s taking her entire closet with her.
The Haus of Gaga fashion exhibit, a display of the 33-year-old triple threat’s wildest ensembles, is opening at the hotel today and running all the way through November 8. Gaga gave us a sneak peek with a video posted to her Twitter account, noting that it was curated by fashion director Nicola Formichetti, who styled some of her most notable looks.
The collection includes about 50 items and 20 iconic head-to-toe outfits from Gaga's tours and red carpet appearances, including the “Telephone” sunglasses (crafted from cigarettes), the Armani gown she wore to the 2010 Grammy Awards, jeans and T-shirts from A Star Is Born and…yes, the meat dress.
Gaga's raw beef frock, which she wore to the 2010 MTV VMAs, is on full display, only this time, it’s been “jerky’d.” Formichetti told Billboard that after being refrigerated for “an unspecified period of time,” the dress was preserved by American Taxidermy in Burbank, California. (According to The Washington Post, it’s been beef jerky’d since 2011.)
Although Haus of Gaga is free to visit, guests are encouraged to donate to the Born This Way Foundation (Gaga's nonprofit that supports mental wellness). And according to Formichetti, the multilevel experience will evolve throughout its run; he told Billboard he plans to swap outfits in the exhibit, inspired by Gaga’s personal style trajectory. “We [want to] keep this space evolving and changing, swapping outfits and making it unexpected,” he said. “We have so many amazing things coming up. This is just the beginning.”
