Spice has proven to be a reliable way to breathe new life into existing products: Look no further than the "Flamin' Hot" phenomenon that was able to help revitalize brands like Cheetos and Doritos. But spicy cereal? Cinnamon Toast Crunch is hoping to have a new hit on their hands by adding some "fuego" to their usual cinnamon flavor.

Billed as "General Mills' first hot cinnamon cereal" (I would think so!) the new, limited-edition CinnaFuego Toast Crunch combines "sweet cinnamon and fiery spice" in an attempt to give the popular cereal snack time appeal. Granted, cinnamon itself can prove to be a spicy flavor, but this new crossover product gets its additional spice not from cinnamon but from hot peppers.

"CTC is always looking to give our fans the most absurd and exciting experiences," Mindy Murray, senior marketing communications manager for General Mills, said in the announcement. "So when we were thinking about what to do next, we realized snack time was a moment that could be spiced up. We can't wait for CTC lovers to try CinnaFuego, and if they dare, eat it with some milk for breakfast."

Okay, but what exactly is CinnaFuego Toast Crunch? Is it a new snack? Is it an old cereal with un-breakfast-like spice? The answer is basically "yes." General Mills' states that CinnaFuego "looks the same as the original and is still blasted with Cinnadust" but includes an addition of spicy pepper to deliver an admittedly "absolutely absurd experience."

CinnaFuego Toast Crunch will be sold exclusively online at Walmart.com, starting on Friday, August 12, while supplies last, with a 5.9-ounce pouch retailing for $5.48. The pouches are also resealable, which seems like clear evidence that this is one snack that the brand is not expecting people to down in a single sitting.

Whether you dare to try it with milk is up to you.
