Have You Noticed 2017 Harry Styles Looks EXACTLY Like 2013 Harry Styles?
As an entertainment writer for Seventeen.com, it's my job to know what celebrities look like at all times. For this reason, 9.5 out of 10 times, I can easily tell what year any picture of a celebrity was taken just from the way their hair is cut, the clothes that they're wearing, or their level of baby face. I am the Time Lord of celebrity pictures. One of the easiest artists to date from his appearance - thanks to his yearly hair and fashion evolutions that come like clockwork - is Harry Styles.
Or he was. His reemergence on the pop scene after spending a year under the radar has me questioning my talents.
This morning I scrolled right past a news story about Harry thinking it was old news because the thumbnail was of Harry in 2013. His face was as smooth as a baby's bottom - no facial hair in sight - and his hair was short, swept up in the front, with the wispy side hairs (is that a thing?) combed forward so they curled around his ears. Totally trademark 2013 Harry. Moving right along...
But that's when I opened a video of Harry performing Sign of the Times for the first time on a french Talk Show called Quotidien yesterday and my world was rocked: There on stage stood 2013 Harry singing a song he wrote in 2017. Don't believe me? Watch the video below:
Is he or is he not a spitting image of Midnight Memories era Hazza? Were you or were you not waiting for the rest of One Direction (including Zayn) to emerge on stage the entire time you watched?
Okay, okay. Once you take a closer look, Harry clearly has post-2013 tattoos all over his arms and that black and gold houndstooth vest and pants combo definitely does not fall in line with 2013 Harry's aesthetic (he was all about plain black Ts).
Still, from the neck up, he's a spitting image of himself three years ago.
I know it's quite possible that Harry has looked this way ever since he chopped off his shoulder length locks, but I think it's more likely 2013 Harry bought a time machine to fly to his future to see how his solo career panned out. 2017 Harry is obviously being held hostage somewhere while past Harry lives out his present-day life.
