Northeast Bracing For First Major Lake Effect Storm Of The Season

The Great Lakes are fuel for severe winter storms that can dump feet of snow at a time.

AccuWeather, in a video posted to YouTube on November 27, 2023, is calling for the season's first significant lake effect storm to dump one to four feet of snow across the region. See below:

AccuWeather: "AccuWeather forecasters say as much as 2 feet of snow is expected to pile up in the typical lake-effect areas, but some less traditional locations could also be reached by this week's dangerous snow squalls. The AccuWeather Local StormMax is 48 inches (4 feet). Meanwhile, it's going to feel frigid in the East."

Tomorrow's storm isn't expected to produce record-breaking snowfall like last year's storm that dumped over 80 inches on Buffalo, NY, but one to four feet of snow is certainly nothing to scoff at.

Ski resorts in Michigan and western New York are poised to benefit most from the incoming storm.

Keep an eye out for big storm totals at Mount Bohemia, MI and Holiday Valley, NY. Both are in the storm's bullseye according to the maps created by AccuWeather in the video above.

Ski resorts in New England should see leftovers from the storm through the week.
