- Kate Middleton and Prince William were spotted on a commercial flight in the wake of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry taking a private jet.
- Royal fans are jumping to conclusions and assuming Kate and William were making a ~point~.
The internet has been at its worst since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took a private jet to France, a decision which prompted huge amounts of backlash—especially considering how vocal the couple have been about their climate change concerns. Multiple celebs have come to Meghan and Harry's defense (and pointed out the racist trolling Meghan's endured for three straight years), and right when the situation was calming down, Prince William and Kate Middleton were seen flying commercial.
The couple were spotted on an early FlyBe flight from Norwich to Aberdeen (according to pictures obtained by the Daily Mail), and plenty of people were quick to spin this as SHADE. But royal reporter Chris Ship is pointing out how vastly inaccurate this is. Ya see, royal trips are planned months in advance:
Anyone who thinks William & Kate might have chosen to fly budget airline to make a point after Harry & Meghan’s private jets - doesn’t have a clue about royal travel plans. They are made months in advance. Especially when it’s about visiting The Queen at Balmoral ✈️ 👑 https://t.co/tKxOb3XVPb— Chris Ship (@chrisshipitv) August 22, 2019
On top of that, there's no point in pitting Meghan/Harry and William/Kate against each other here because both couples have taken private jets in the past. As royal reporter Emily Andrews points out, William and Kate took a "£19k private jet to Dundee" as recently as January.
In other words, Meghan and Harry do not deserve to be singled-out for their private jet use, and William and Kate's recent trip was NOT shade! (But if you are looking for shade, please come hither to this analysis of Taylor Swift's song lyrics.)
