Scott Stuber, Head of Netflix Film, has been dropping hints about what's to come from the streamer.

He revealed a third Enola Holmes film is in the works and alluded to Greta Gerwig's Narnia commencing filming in 2024, and also shared that Gerwig's Barbie writing partner, Noah Baumbach, has something brewing.

Described as "a funny and emotional coming-of-age story about adults", Baumbach is set to collaborate with Netflix on their fourth partnership.

Previously, he released The Meyerowitz Stories, starring Adam Sandler and Dustin Hoffman, which follows an estranged family who gathers together in New York City for an event celebrating the artistic work of their father.

The second film for the streamer, Marriage Story, features Oscar-nominated performances from Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson and tells the story of the ending of a marriage loosely based on his own experience.

Most recently, he adapted Don Delillo's novel White Noise, which once again starred Adam Driver alongside Greta Gerwig, Don Cheadle and Jodie Turner-Smith. It dramatizes a contemporary American family's attempts to deal with the mundane conflicts of everyday life while grappling with the universal mysteries of love, death, and the possibility of happiness in an uncertain world.

Stuber, reflecting on Netflix as a studio, said, "We're a machine that was built to go, go, go...And that doesn't always result in quality. A lot of streaming companies made the mistake of moving so fast that we made a lot of things that weren't ready to be produced. I want to avoid that."

Baumbach has been nominated for three Oscars and delivers critically acclaimed films also loved by audiences. His collaborations with Netflix are among some of the best that the streamer has to offer.

His career dates back to the '90s with films that always feature whipsmart scripts reminiscent of the screwball comedy era where everyone bounces off each other fluidly.

With another collaboration with Baumbach, Gerwig's Narnia in the works and Bradley Cooper's upcoming Maestro, it is evident that the streaming service is currently prioritising quality stories from some of the most exciting working filmmakers.
