NFL Week 9: Jameis Winston, Saints Baby highlight social media winners and losers

Another NFL Sunday has come and gone, which means it’s time to crown some social media winners and losers! Here’s who dominated the Twitterverse on Sunday, for better or for worse.

Loser: Jameis Winston

Where to even start? Jameis Winston’s day began with a pre-game speech in which he … ate his fingers to represent “eating a W” … ? Ohhhkay.

Whatever that was, it didn’t work. The Tampa Bay offense failed to get anything going against the New Orleans Saints, and Winston was pulled out of the game with a shoulder injury with his team down 16-3 at halftime.

Somehow, Winston made things worse for his team on the sidelines by instigating a fight with Saints CB Marshon Lattimore . Perhaps inspired by the stirring pre-game speech, Mike Evans rushed to Winston’s aid, and probably should have been ejected.

Winston got trolled by Saints coach Sean Payton, who retweeted this following his team’s 30-10 win.

And Detroit Lions receiver Golden Tate took a jab of his own.

All in all, not the best day for Winston.

Winner: Saints Baby

Saints WR Ted Ginn Jr. celebrated a touchdown grab by handing the ball off to an adorable baby in the crowd … who was NOT having it .

Everything ended up OK in the end.

Loser: Julio Jones

How. Did. Julio. Jones. Drop. This.

Winner: The Philadelphia Eagles

Another week, another dominating performance for the Philadelphia Eagles, who have emerged as the clear-cut team to beat in the NFL.

Quarterback Carson Wentz looked every bit of an MVP candidate, recently acquired RB Jay Ajayi fit in seamlessly, and Philadelphia rolled over the Denver Broncos 51-23 at home.

Loser: The New York Giants

The Giants added another chapter to their terrible, horrible, no good, very bad season with a 51-17 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 51 points were the most the team has given up at home since 1964.

I mean, the Rams scored a touchdown on a THIRD AND THIRTY-THREE.

Winner: Marshall Newhouse

Big Guy Touchdowns are a time honored, and glorious, tradition, but Oakland Raiders OL Marshall Newhouse provided us with something new Sunday night: A Big Guy Helicopter .

Newhouse scooped up a Derek Carr fumble and saw his moment of glory. However, life, as it tends to do, came at him at a rapid speed.
