NFL Week 17 Superlatives: Was Eagles' Donnie Jones trying out for 'Magic Mike'?

Welcome to the final installment of 2017 NFL Superlatives; we’re a day late after the New Year’s holiday, but maybe in your revelry you’ve forgotten some of the things that happened on- and off-field on the final Sunday of the season. Here’s the week’s picks:

Mr. Forgetful: Donnie Jones, Philadelphia

The Eagles’ punter was on the field and waiting for a punt in his team’s frigid game against the Dallas Cowboys when he realized he was still wearing his warmup pants over his game pants. Or maybe he decided to stage a very public audition for “Magic Mike 3”? The world may never know.

Best Shoes: Jarvis Landry, Miami

Landry’s nickname is “Juice,” and he paid homage to the moniker for his cleats on Sunday. The colorful shoes featured several popular juice drinks – Hawaiian Punch, Kool-Aid, and Capri Sun. The Dolphins lost to the Bills, but Landry did his part, with nine catches for 92 yards and a touchdown; his 112 catches for the season were tops in the NFL.

Drama King: Johnson Bademosi, New England

Bademosi’s sideline histrionics – dramatically falling to the Gillette Stadium turf seconds after taking a spiked ball off the facemask – is one of the funniest things we saw this season, and received solid 10s across the board from the soccer judges. And Bademosi’s postgame explanation is worth watching too.

Favorite Senior: James Harrison, New England

Harrison might be 39-years-old, but he was looking spry in his first game with the Patriots. He played just 27 snaps but got two sacks, five total tackles, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble in New England’s win over the Jets.

Life of the Party: Kyle Williams, Buffalo

Sunday was Williams’ day, and rightfully so: the 2006 fifth-round pick has spent 12 seasons in Buffalo – he’s on his fifth head coach, seventh defensive coordinator, and ninth starting quarterback. But on Sunday, finally, the defensive tackle got to experience the feeling of making the playoffs. And earlier in the day, against Miami, he scored his first touchdown on offense, rushing from the 1 and celebrating with the other big guys, the O-linemen:

Best Dressed: Jaydon Mickens, Jacksonville

Mickens, the Jaguars’ punt returner and reserve receiver, took advantage of playing on New Year’s Eve, donning a dark velvet tuxedo and bowtie. The 23-year-old had reason to celebrate beyond it being Dec. 31: undrafted out of Washington in 2016, Mickens was cut by three teams over the next 15 months, signing with the Jacksonville practice squad on Sept. 19, 2017. But he and another member of the practice squad slept in their car to save money. Mickens was promoted to the active roster a month later, and after his second NFL game, was named AFC special teams player of the week.

Best Use of a Facemask: Justin Ellis, Oakland

We’ve seen players come screaming off the edge, we’ve seen players get a big ol’ mitt on the ball, we’ve even seen players leap over the players in front of them in an effort to block a kick. But Ellis took the cake against the Chargers, when he blocked a kick with his face. Thankfully, he was wearing a helmet at the time.
